Doomsday clock is a narrative-based single player board game, where players act as the commander of the human civilization, building their own boards of workflows.

Not only the game is based on a narrative background, each board or card tells a story in the gameplay. There are also personalized multi-endings at the end of the gameplay.

It is also a sustainable product since the designer can continuously add narrative to the game by adding more boards or cards into the game.

Inspirations

>>>The doomsday clock

Dating back to 1947, the magazine Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists began to draw a clock on each cover to reflect basic changes in the level of continuous danger in which mankind lives in a disaster-prone ages. If the pointer reaches 12 o’clock (midnight), the human civilization comes to an end. This so-called Doomsday clock does not work like normal clocks. It is human beings who decide where the pointers are. The more disasters there are and the more serious the disasters are, the closer the pointers are to the 12 o’clock.. “Like a countdown, the Clock suggests that destruction will naturally occur unless someone takes action to stop it.” In this simulation board game, you will act as the commander of human civilization, trying your best to preserve the civilization in the Divine Wrath, and find a way to quit the loop if possible.

>>>The myth of Sisyphus

In Greek mythology, there is a cunning man called Sisyphus, who cheated death twice and was punished by rolling an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll back down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for eternity. During a long period of time, human civilization is exactly that cunning Sisyphus, cheating death again and again. However, they are also punished for their “cleverness” by permanently struggling on the up-hill road to “Immortal”. The rock they are pulling against becomes pointers of the doomsday clock with the weight of disasters. This is a tug-of-war with death
